Formed in 1971 to provide deployed support to the Royal Air Force aircraft operating away from their home bases; personnel of the Tactical Supply Wing have seen operational service in fifteen different countries. Since 1999, the Wing has been Joint Helicopter Command's specialist aviation fuels support unit and in its 35th year it has airmen serving in Afghanistan, Bosnia, the Falkland Islands, Iraq and Northern Ireland.
