Depicted departing HMS Ark Royal in the late seventies is a Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer of No 809 Naval Air Squadron.  Behind can be seen the ships flight Wessex helicopter operating as plane guard ready to extract the crew should an ejection after take off be necessary.
