A beautiful painting depicting a Westland Wessex helicopter of No 72 Sqn Royal Air Force. Upon its retirement from active service in 2002, it held the distinction of being the type of aircraft with the longest operational service in RAF history. The airframe depicted continues to serve; as gate guardian at its former base, RAF Aldergrove in Northern Ireland. Each print is published on heavy 300gsm embossed paper giving the look and appearance of the original canvas. Credit Card ordering available at the "Stop Press" page.
Guestbook comments from Mr Andy Flowers:
I purchased the fantastic print of the 72 Sqn Wessex over Slemish, NI, as a present for my Dads 50th birthday. He's an ex-SENGO of the Sqn and it was the last aircraft he worked on. He also used to fly both the Wessex and Gazelles at Shawbury, so Charles also added an extra sketch of both aircraft, complete with exact decals of the first/last aircraft he flew.
Within 24hrs of framing it and presenting it to my Dad, it had pride of place in his study, above his PC. A few times I've stuck my head round the door and seen him looking in awe at it. It's both highly personal and a fantastic representation of aircraft which are often painted but are "never quite right." Well this one certainly is!
My sincere gratitude to both Charles and Edwina in helping sort out such a special present for my Dad. It's truly very much appreciated and is the kind of thing one never forgets.
All the best,
Andy.
